Santa Cruz County International Film FestivalAn annual celebration of film and filmmaking
More than 125 major motion pictures have been filmed in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The picturesque vistas of the San Rafael Valley and other natural areas here, along with its close proximity to Mexico, made the area a favorite of movie studios and actors like John Wayne, Stewart Granger and Jean Simmons.
The Santa Cruz County International Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates the history of filmmaking in Santa Cruz County and promotes the area as an ideal location for film production.
The festival is sponsored by the Santa Cruz Nature and Heritage Festival. It provides attendees with an opportunity to learn about, see and discuss motion pictures that were filmed in and around Santa Cruz County, Arizona, and provides presentations, classes and tours to the locations of classic movies that were filmed here.
The Santa Cruz County International Film Festival is pleased to encourage the production of new films in Santa Cruz County. Major motion picture production like the filming of the Warner Brother’s feature “Hangover III” in October of 2012 can have a tremendous economic impact on Nogales and Santa Cruz County.
